Frequently asked questions
Where does the train data come from, and how fresh is it?
Train Radar uses official and open railway data feeds — live data published by national railway operators, infrastructure managers and open transit data platforms (full list on the Data Sources page).
Positions on the map update every few seconds. Between measurement points a train's position is estimated along the actual railway line, so what you see is a very good approximation, not a guarantee. Delay figures are exactly what the operator publishes.
Why is a train missing from the map?
The most common reasons:
- The operator does not publish real-time data for that service (some regional, international or replacement services).
- The upstream feed is temporarily down — trains for that country reappear when it recovers.
- The train is not yet activated in the operator's system (usually shortly before departure) or has finished its journey.
- We deliberately hide trains whose data is too broken to place correctly rather than draw them in the wrong place.
If a specific train is consistently missing, tell us the train number, date and country — we investigate every report.
The delay or platform in the app was different from the station. Why?
We show what the railway's own systems publish, as fast as we receive it — but those systems can lag behind reality, especially during disruption. Always treat station announcements and the operator's official app as authoritative. See our Terms of Use.
How do I manage or cancel my Train Radar subscription?
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or follow Apple's guide: Cancel a subscription from Apple. To cancel a free trial without being charged, do so at least 24 hours before the trial ends. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Train Radar has no accounts — the only server-side data tied to your device is an anonymous identifier, your followed trains and subscription status. Deleting the app removes the identifier from your device. To have the server-side records erased too, email support@trainradar.co (ideally from the app's Settings → Support so the anonymous identifier is included) and we will delete them within one month, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Which app version am I running?
The version and build number are shown at the bottom of the app's Settings screen. Train Radar requires iOS 17 or later and is available on the App Store.
